Free Servers
There are many companies like Yahoo,
Excite, or
Geocities that offer free space on
their web servers. You are allowed to post a few pages that can be
accessed through a URL like "http://www.geocities.com/mypage". In exchange
for that service, the hosting company will display a banner add on your
web site, through which it obtains revenue. Typically, those banner adds
can be removed by paying a small monthly fee.
Free servers have an unbeatable price, but you do get what you pay for.
Banners tend to be annoying to your visitors, even direct them to your
competition (after all, the competition is paying for the add, and you are
not paying for the web service). Disk space is limited, unless you pay for
the extra space, and bandwidth is "throttled", meaning that download times
from your site will not be very good at peak times.
Free servers can be attractive for a starter site, where budget
may be of paramount experience. We can combine a free server hosting
solution with some of our web design packages. Please
